Are you looking for a puppy to add to your family? Look no further than the Cavapoo! These delightful little dogs are sure to make your life brighter. Learn more about why the Cavapoo is the perfect pet for pet owners in this post.

Health Characteristics

Cavapoos are bred from two of the most popular breeds, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Poodles, which makes them not only adorable but also very healthy due to their hybrid vigor.

They're typically low-shedding and hypoallergenic, so if you or someone in your family has allergies, a Cavapoo may be the perfect choice for you! Plus, because of their mixed heritage, they have an increased resistance against genetic diseases that can affect either of their parent breeds.

A couple of things to watch for: they can have heart problems (a common issue with King Charles Cavalier) and eye problems (again, a King Charles issue). If you are getting your pup from a breeder - ASK them if they've had genetic testing done! See if they've had any heart or eye problems in their dogs. Ask for references!!

If you are getting your puppy from a rescue or a shelter, just be aware that these issues may surface. Be on the lookout! Ask your vet to do a thorough check for both of these health conditions so that you can be prepared and take care of your new little buddy as best as you can!

Norah Jones - Our Cavapoo

Yes, I own a cavapoo. Her name is Norah Jones. She is supposedly my husband's dog - but let's face it - she sits with me more than she does with him. Cavapoos are awesome dogs, but I will warn you: they can be loud and they can be stubborn. But they are also so darn cute and awesome lap dogs! If you are looking for a small, gorgeous little pup - a cavapoo might be in your future!

Size

Cavapoos can come in just about any size from 10 pounds to 35 or 40 pounds. It all depends upon the size of the poodle. Most King Charles Cavaliers are in the 15-20 pound range, but poodles really vary! If the mom dog is a poodle ... she could be toy to standard size - and be totally fine bred with a male King Charles Cavalier. That means your cavapoo could be very small (from the toy momma) to quite large (the standard momma).

If the momma dog is the King Charles Cavalier, then realistically you could use a toy, mini or very small standard as the dad (sire). All of those would work with the Cavvie mom. In that case, your cavapoo would most likely be in the 10-20 pound range.

Personality

Cavapoos love people and need lots of attention from their families. They're very intelligent and energetic, so they will require regular exercise and playtime. This breed is eager to please their owners, so they are relatively easy to train.

They also respond well to positive reinforcement techniques like treats and verbal praise. Additionally, Cavapoos tend to bond strongly with one person in particular—so make sure everyone in your family gets some quality time with your new pup!

General Disposition

Cavapoos are known for being gentle, friendly dogs who get along well with children as well as other pets. In general, they tend to be laid back and calm but still enjoy running around and playing when they get the chance!

It's important to note that while these pups do not require a lot of grooming or maintenance compared to other breeds, but they do need regular brushing and occasional trips to the groomer (depending on how much hair you prefer). Because of their poodle parent, they will need their hair cut occasionally, but you can learn to do that yourself, if you wanted to! I believe that YouTube can teach you just about anything! With proper care and attention, a Cavapoo can be a loving companion for many years.

Conclusion

Overall, Cavapoos make wonderful pets for those looking for an affectionate canine companion who is low-maintenance yet fun-loving at heart. Whether it's snuggling up with you on the couch or going out on an adventure at the park—a Cavapoo will always be ready for anything! So if you're looking for a pup that will bring joy into your life every day—this just might be the perfect breed for you.
